Introduction to FYHA RJ Goals and Philosophy of FYHA 1. To provide an opportunity for every youth in the greater Fulton area to play organized hockey, according to the establishedrules and regulations. 2. To impress upon the youth of the organization thehigh ideals of sportsmanship and fair playunder all circumstances and conditions. 3. To instill a sense ofhonesty, loyalty, courage, and respectso that they will be finer, stronger, and happier youths who will grow up to be good, clean, healthy adults. The supervisors of this program shall bare in mind, at all times, that the attainment of exceptional athletic skill and the winning of games is secondary and that the molding of future citizens is of prime importance.

FYHA ACE Program OverviewTom • Plan, organize and execute periodic skills workshops for coaches, players and parents. • Evaluate practice sessions and provide feedback to coaches to improve the coaching capability of local association coaches. • Establish and maintain a resource center for coaches, players and parents that includes USA Hockey materials. • Communicate certification requirements to local association coaches and ensure compliance with USA Hockey and affiliate certification levels. • Communicate with the District ACE Director, their Affiliate ACE Coordinator, and USA Hockey on all issues related to coaching at the local association level. • Encourage local association to implement the USA Hockey skill development and cross-ice programs. Ensure that the local association is promoting age-specific skill development in all of their programs. • Communicate USA Hockey’s player development opportunities to players, parents and coaches. • Deliver parent education programs to the local association.

Learn to Skate OverviewTom For ages 3 to 10 years old - for those individuals that have never skated before, or who are struggling and need guidance and encouragement. The USA Hockey Initiation Program – Fun and Skills – is the foundation for the program. Volunteer Helpers will receive instruction and mentoring via the (USA Hockey) FYH Association Coaching Education program. • The program consists of 2 - ten week sessions, with 2 - one hour time slots per week at a cost of $60 per ten week session. • Participants may be registered with USA Hockey (no additional cost). • Hockey skates ONLY. • USA Hockey approved hockey helmet and face shield / cage is required. • Gloves, kneepads, and elbow pads are HIGHLY recommended, in-line / street hockey equipment is ok. • Hockey stick is NOT NEEDED and not allowed. • Used equipment available to loan. • 1st session - October 12th through December 19th. • 2nd session - January 5th through March 15th. • Participants, upon evaluation and recommendation by registered FYHA Coaches, may elect to join the FYHA Tyke / Mite program at some additional cost. • 38 kids in last years program
NYSAHA Parent EducationTom Key goals - • To create an awareness among parents of the importance of their positive involvement in the game • To provide parents a better understanding of sportsmanship, growth and development, fun & enjoyment and a safe environment for all • Positive involvement in this program by everyone will have a profound effect on the game • To inform all that good communication goes along way • To help keep youth hockey a safe, pleasant and positive experience for the kids and parents
