    2. Human Subjects Research: History Historically, governments have had to put serious restrictions on researchers. The origin of codes of research ethics can be traced to the NUREMBERG CODE a list of rules established by a military tribunal on Nazi war crimes during World War II.

    3. The Nuremberg Trials became the basic framework for the protection of human research subjects, subsequent studies throughout the mid- to later-20th century also greatly impacted the awareness and need to further consider ethical issues in the conduct of human subject research
