  1. Church Discipline: Conclusion What Should Be the Attitude & Posture Toward One Disfellowshipped ? Publicly? -It shouldn’t be one which ignores or condones their sinful behavior. -Brethren at Corinth and Thessalonica were told to “remove” and “keep aloof from” those who refused all efforts to regain them.

  2. Church Discipline: Conclusion What Should Be the Attitude & Posture Toward One Disfellowshipped ? Privately? -The association too is restricted, 1Cor.5:11; 2Thess.3:6 -But, care must be taken lest we become over-zealous, 2Cor.2:5-11; 2Thess.3:15

  3. Church Discipline: Conclusion What Should Be the Attitude & Posture Toward One Disfellowshipped ? So what do we do? >Pray for them, 1John 5:16 >Convert them through/to the truth from which they have strayed, James 5:19-20 >Seek to Restore them, Gal.6:1

  4. Church Discipline: Conclusion “But what if I don’t think sufficient effort was made to reclaim the erring? Am I still bound to support the disfellowshipping?” Answer #1- You are at complete liberty to seek the same,2Thess.3:15 Answer #2- “Yes”2Cor.2:6; Heb.13:17

  5. Church Discipline: Conclusion One more point… While it is true that autonomy prevents one congregation from being “bound” by the decisions and activities of another…. It is also true that to completely ignore such without scriptural reason can make a mockery of the whole process of corrective discipline.

  6. Church Discipline Conclusions: Discipline, of both instructive and corrective measures, is not only expected by God- it is demanded. Brethren who are reluctant to apply God’s word on the matter are either ignorant or rebellious.

  7. Church Discipline Conclusions: When discipline is practiced by all churches as it should be, the authority of Christ will be honored and maintained, the church will remain pure as God intended, it will be respected by the world, and the souls of sinful brethren will be regained. It’s that important!
