  2. Introduction: You are a starving artist and you are in need of a sale of some of your art work. Luckily enough, there is an art show coming up next week, but the theme of the show is Pop art. Can you make an accurate piece of Pop art to sell?

  3. Task: You will need to make a work of art to sell at this art show… • Research a Pop Artist, find out their media, method and subject matter. • Create a work of art based upon the artist that you chose. • Write a paragraph describing how your work and the Pop Artists are similar. (This is your Artist’s Statement).

  4. Process: P1 Research a Pop Artist: (from list on next page) Short biography: date of birth/death, etc… Media: ex. paint, sculpture, drawing, etc… Subject matter: ex. portraits, objects, everday things, etc… Location: Europe, U.S., Japan, etc… Use Websites such as: http://www.artlex.com/ArtLex/p/popart.html http://www.artnet.com/ (Search your artist) http://www.artcyclopedia.com/ (Search your artist) http://www.nga.gov/home.htm (search your artist) Also use the links of the artists on the following page.

  5. Process: P1 Click the artist’s name to go to a webpage about them… Jasper Johns Keith Haring Jeff Koons Yayoi Kusama Roy Lichtenstein Claes Oldenburg Sir Eduardo Paolozzi Robert Rauschenberg James Rosenquist George Segal Wayne Thiebaud Andy Warhol

  6. Process: P2 Create a work of art based upon the artist that you chose. Using materials found in the classroom, create a work of art that is similar in nature to that of your artist. If your artist painted, you should paint… if they sculpted, you should sculpt, etc. You will have three class periods to do this.

  7. Process: P3 Write a paragraph describing how your work and the Pop Artists are similar. (This is your Artist’s Statement). Describe what you have created in your work of art. Compare your work to that of your Pop artist. Describe why your art work is successful.

  8. Evaluation:

  9. Congratulations! • You sold your artwork! You should be proud! Maybe Pop Art is your calling? Keep working hard and soon you’ll be in Museums!

  10. Teacher’s Page If you would like to, this Webquest is easily altered to ANY time period of art. Just change the information about Pop art to a different movement!
