Getting there • Yesterday Puriri ,Rimu and Kowhai went to Puketi Forest. We had to go through Kaeo. The bus driver said he had been driving for a long time. That made me feel safe. • Later we went round some bendy roads. • Me and lawe sang keitepekeahau and marangamai. • Soon we arrived at Puketi Forest.
Kauri Forest • We went to the kauri forest we went down a wooden boardwalk it was slippery, my friend Nagtau fell off the boardwalk. One of the adults said “are you all right Ngatau”. I saw an enormous Kauri tree It a was a big and tall Kauri tree.
The cold and smelly cabin. • Later we went to a cold and smelly cabin there was a lady called Alice. Alice was from DOC she said there was a disease called Kauri dieback. It is when the Sap comes out of the kauri tree. I’ve never seen the sap before. It was cool learning about the dieback and it was grosse.
Why did we go there? • We went to the Puketi Forest because it is a part of Puriri, Rimu and Kowhais’ topic and we want to save New Zealand forests and experience new places.
What I loved about the trip [: • I loved it on the second walk because It had a nice water fall and I liked the double rainbow Eric said “mean double rainbow” it was funny. • It was funny when Emma was grossed out when she was out by the toilet.
