  2. Content • Introduction • Products • Market & Customer Benefits • Functionality • Processes • Deliveries • History

  3. APIO STS APM (Incl. RTR) MSCS 3pMW TCP/IP Windows OS HW Introduction, Basics • STS is an application that executes in the AXE IO-System (IOG11, IOG20, APG30/33, APG40) • STS extracts statistics data from the AXE exchange and make it available to the operator for analysis • View of STS in APG40:

  4. Introduction, Functional View SP/AP CP OSS SW Blocks SW Blocks Report LAVS STS

  5. New/updated counters Improved functionallity Products, Development Status Counters Counters Counters Maintenance Maintenance STS-SP STS-APG30 STS-APG40 SGS

  6. Products, Characteristics • STS-APG30: • C++ • 500 000 counters • BRP 15 minutes • Load File output format • STS-APG40 • C++ • 1 000 000 counters • BRP 5/15 minutes • Load File or ASN.1 output format • STS-SP: • EriPascal • 300 000 counters • BRP 5/15 minutes • ISO encoded output format Originally built from the same source code

  7. Market & Customer Benefits • The STS application is widely spread. STS is today in service in GSM/UMTS-MSC, GSM/UMTS-HLR, GSM-BSC and also in Wireline, PDC, TDMA and CDMA nodes. • STS is present in all APG40 FOAs ongoing today (except in NGS) • The key customer benefit of STS is to reduce operation costs, by measure subscriber behaviour, routes and traffic directions. The information is used for traffic planning and fault analysis.

  10. Functionality, Types of Counters • PEG Counter, always increasing until wrap around • Status Counter, increasing or decreasing, indicate absolute level PEG Status Wrap around Time

  11. New/updated counters Improved functionallity Counters Counters Counters Maintenance Maintenance STS-SP STS-APG30 STS-APG40 SGS Processes • STS-APG40 improved functionality: • Included in APZ development projects (APZ-P9) • Ordinary project work with Prestudy, Feasibility Study and Execution • New/updated counters: • STS IPs are written by the BSC/HLR/MSC/CDMA development projects • PC-STS reviews the IPs • Only Execution is performed by the STS organization

  13. Deliveries, STS in APZ P9, Main Feasibility Objects • Configuration Transfer Tool STS-SP to STS-APG40 • Reduced Function Change Time • Improvements in Parameter File and CXC split • Investigate Roguewave and PAL dependencies • Improvements in Output Time Format • “Clean up” Design Rules • Adaptations to New APG40 Operating System

  14. History • STS was initially developed for the US wireline market, but was soon introduced as standard for all GSM markets • First developed within ETX, then transferred to ETL and from there to EEI (STS-APG30 was initially developed by EED and from there transferred to EEI) • July 1 2002, the STS responsibility was transferred from EEI to EAB/Teleca in Stockholm/Östersund • June 1 2003, STS-APG30 and STS-APG40 development transferred to EAB/UKY/L
