As a star high school football player during his time at Andover High, William Heikkinen was immediately selected to play for the Brown University Bears, which some would say is one of the biggest of William Heikkinen’s achievements in Brown University. Currently coached by Phil Estes, players are selected on their ‘toughness’ and resilience in balancing a demanding college football career with the rigorous academic life that comes with attending one of the top universities in America. With Heikkinen on the team, the Brown Bears played 10 games in 2014, 10 of which they won and 10 of which they lost. William, however, intends to keep striving to replicate the success of the greats that have gone before him, and aims to be the next top football player out of Brown University. In addition to football, William Heikkinen’s achievements in Brown University include a great deal of academic success. As demandedof all the football players of the Brown Bears, William has successfully managed to balance the demands of academics with his flourishing football career. It is no great surprise that this is one of William Heikkinen’s achievements in Brown University, as he successfullymanaged this balance back when he was at high school. There, Heikkinen was both a top athleteand a dedicated student, excelling in both sports and academic subjects. Some of William’s high school academic achievements include making the Honor Roll for all semesters of his senior year, and being winner of theChemistry and Survey of Film Underclassmen awards. Sports-wise, William was lettered in football in all three years of high school, and was also lettered in track and field.
As a football player, William broke two school records byaccumulating 126 catches and 1,960 receiving yards. He also made 22 touchdowns in his high school football career and was also named First Team All-State by both the Boston Globe and Boston Herald.
