Project Management

The kick-off meeting for the PACT project, which aims to shape post-carbon societies, will take place in Brussels on October 7, 2008. The project, coordinated by ENERDATA, consists of various work packages focused on topics such as post-carbon cities and land use, post-carbon life and technologies, producing goods and services in post-carbon societies, and more. The project management responsibilities include decision-making processes, coordination, and communication among partners.

PACT Decisionmakingprocess • Work-packages • The WP leader decide (with the other partners involved in the WP) the process through which the questions and problems appearing during the research will be reported and addressed, and related decisions made: distant communication and technical meetings • The work-package leader report progress of the work package and decisions made on inflexions and further actions actions to the coordinatorevery six months. • Project • 4 PACT technical workshops hosted by Enerdata (Grenoble), Fraunhofer-ISI and IPP (Karlsruhe or Garching), LSC and ISIS (Roma), MEFOS (Stockholm), where decisions concerning interactions among WPs will be made • Mid-termplenaryseminar, wheredecisionsconcerningprojectre-orientation and/or re-allocation of meanswillbe made

PACT Management responsabilities • Coordinator (Enerdata) • Negociate the Grant Agreement • Receive and redistributefundsaccording to EC-DGRTD instructions • Collect the coststatements and conveythem to EC-DGRTD • Collect relevant information fromwork package leaders and prepareprojectfollow-up reports every six months • Organise KO meeting, mid-termseminar and final conference • Negotiatewith the EC-DGRTD any changes to bebrought to the structure of the project, content of the work, deliverables, thatwouldbeimposed by circumstances or suggested by the mid-termseminar • Keep all partnersinformed of administrative and financialmatters • Contact for administrative and financialmatters: maryse.chenevier@enerdata.fr

PACT Management responsabilities • Work Package leaders • Ensure scientific coordination of the work package • Prepare the production and delivery of public deliverables in due time • Install internal communication channelswithin the work package • Write-up WP follow-up notes for the coordinatorevery six month • Whenever relevant, organise the technical workshop • Participate to all workshops and seminar

PACT Communication 1 • Within the project • Amongpartners: mostly through telephone and electronic mail and at the occasion of the workshops. • For all partners and the sponsors: Enerdatawilldevelop a WEB site and a forum platform • With GILDED • GILDED coordinatorwillbeinvited to all workshops and seminars; according to workshop topics, other GILDED partnerswillalsobeinvited • PACT coordinatorwillbeinvited to all GILDED workshops and seminars; according to workshop topics, other PACT partnerswillalsobeinvited

PACT Communication 2 • Outside the project, towards the scientificcommunity • Within the WEB site, a forum platformwillbededicated to the scientificcommunity • Scientistsoutside the projectwillbeinvitedat the mid-termseminar and at the final conference • Outside the project, towards the stake-holders • Set-up a database of key persons in industry, politics and NGOs • Selected stake-holders within the database will be invited to express their opinions ans suggestions in the scenario design phase • Large international conference at the end of the project where stake-holders will be invited
