When failure, the pump sounded like engine. High velocity, high acceleration, hot bearing in pump. The pumps supply a constant water pressure to the firewater pipe ring( one orifice to discharge the water in the pipe ring ). So the flow rate for the pump should not change too much as no pressure alarm (If the pressure low, another pump will start). History:Hot bearing is a issues for these pumps. We changed the bearings for this pump 2 month ago. It seems that the turbulence from the inlet pipe could cause the cavitation some how and cause the bearing hot and fail. (The inlet pressure is enough for the N.P.S.H.).We surveyed the pump just 3 days ago. Everything was in a smooth trend. No symptoms for forthcoming failure.It is a vertical installed pump. Motor inboard 24.39x are dominant in 3 orientations of motor. The level in axial orientation is higher than the horizontal and vertical. Motor Axial, dominant frequencies are similar with the pump inboard.
