Xavier University Of Louisiana A Tradition of Excellence • Business Continuity (BC) vs. Disaster Recovery (DR): A view from Wikipedia • Business Continuity is a progression of disaster recovery, aimed at allowing an organization to continue functioning after (and ideally, during) a disaster, rather than simply being able to recover after a disaster. • Disaster recovery is the process of regaining access to the data, hardware and software necessary to resume critical business operations after a natural or human-induceddisaster. Disaster Recovery is part of a larger process known as Business Continuity. • NET: DR is a component of BC. In a progressive disaster, such as Katrina, it is not sufficient just to be able to recovery your business/operations, you must be able to continue your operations when you are dislodged from your main location.
