Characters: • Herod: Roman appointed king who feared John the Baptist (v. 20) and was having an affair with Herodias (His brother’s wife) • Herodias: Hated John the Baptist for condemning their affair and forced Herod to imprison him for his own protection • Salome: Herodias daughter who seduced King Herod and his court
