  3. Rock the Vote • Nationwide campaign since 1991 • Has registered over 5 million 18-24 year olds • 2.5 million in 2008 election

  4. Situtation • Registration Process • 12,500 + individuals turn 18 each day • Eligible voters • College students do not have valid IDs • Need to apply for an ID well in advance • 1/3 of this generation will move each year • Requires re-registering

  5. Objectives • Make electoral process more accessible • Increase knowledge of high school seniors • Increase knowledge of voter restrictions • Increase knowledge of voter’s rights among college students • Develop local community advocacy

  6. Target Audience • Uneducated Young Voters • Unregistered Voters Between 18 and 24 • Millennial Generation • Younger Concert & Festival Spectators • Volunteers for Events

  7. Strategies • Use non-profit status of RTV for • Television time • PSA • Radio Talk Shows • Local information booths • Include sponsors, volunteers, community leaders, and interns • Colorful, well-designed brochures and information sheets • Concerts and music festivals

  8. “Music is magic" Our tactic is to have Jay Z host a benefits concert at Carnegie Hall This will give Rock the Vote ample time to prepare for the 2012 presidential election The slogan used for the concert is “Music is magic, control your future” There will also be 100 concert tickets given away along with 500 Rock the Vote “Music is magic, control your future” t-shirts Do to high profile celebrity status concert is expected to sell out

  9. Calendar Benefits concert at Carnegie Hall on March 2nd and 3rd. Tickets available January 3rd 2012to private philanthropists wealthy fans and general public Winter, spring, summer and fall preparation (volunteering) Quarterly campaigning Month to month distribution of funds Campaign employee and volunteer recognition party (TBA)

Overall budget put into the concert is that of $2 million Raise several million dollars (15 million plus) Each department will have a budget of $50,000 plus according to departmental needs The remaining funds raised will be placed in the Rock the Vote account for further reference and summer and fall campaigning

Evaluation Wealthy supporters from all different walks of life, nationally and worldwide Monitor interested respondents and report and balance sheet of expenses and money raised Trained reps to oversee internet and program registration and internet and in-person voter registration volume Telephone, volunteer and community involvement (response via PSA’s) Sponsor participation and donations Voter turnout and results of election
