  2. What is Supported Progression? • A scheme for talented students in the North East and Cumbria • An alternative progression route to Durham University • 280 places available

  4. Eligibility Criteria Essential: applicants must be in Year 12 or equivalent. applicants must be attending a state school or college in the North East or Cumbria (please see our website for a full list of eligible schools). We are looking for applicants meeting all or most of these criteria: will be the first generation in their family to attend university have achieved at least 5 As or A*s at GCSE or equivalent are taking subjects in relation to the subject stream they are applying for attend schools or colleges with a low overall GCSE and/or A-Level, Higher/Advanced Higher (or equivalent) point score and/or schools or colleges with low progression rates to higher education* come from neighbourhoods with low overall progression rates to higher education or high levels of socio economic deprivation** are (or have been) looked after, accommodated or in care are under the age of 18 at the time of the summer school applicants will normally be holding UK or EU nationality. If you do not have UK or EU nationality please contact us for further advice.

  8. What you have to do: Attend all sessions and events Take responsibility for your own learning – complete a personal development portfolio Complete the summer school assessed project to the required standard

  9. Programmeof events 2013-14 December 6th Deadline for application forms 8th/15th/22nd Feb Welcome Event (full day) 10th – 12th April Easter Academy (2 night residential) OR 13th – 15th April 20th July – 26th July Assessed Summer School Or (5 night residential) 27th July – 1st Aug

  10. Participating Departments • All departments (exc. Medicine) are involved in the scheme

  11. How to apply • Complete an application form (ask your school or order from our website) • Deadline: 6th December 2013 • We will inform you of our decision in early Jan’ 2014.
