  9. Before we discuss where rain comes from let me tell you about…

  10. The Three States of Matter Solids Liquids Gases

  11. MATTER is what things are made up of.

  12. Let’s use an ice cube as an example.

  13. An ice cube is liquid water that has been frozen into a solid.

  14. When an ice cube is exposed to heat it begins to melt.

  15. It will eventually completely melt and turn into water.

  16. Once the water is heated sufficiently, it will evaporate and turn into a gas

  17. It will eventually rise in to the sky and form into a cloud.

  18. The cloud will become heavy with moisture and rain will fall from it.

  19. That’s what’s called the Water Cycle

  20. Water from lakes, streams, rivers, and seas evaporates and turns from a

  21. Liquid into a gas

  22. The gas then cools and adheres around dust particles in the air.

  23. The gas will continue to form around the dust particles until they become so heavy that the fall from the cloud.

  24. When they fall they’re called raindrops.

  25. 1 Is rain new water? a.) YES b.) NO

  26. 2.) The water that falls from the skies comes from how many different places? a.) one b.) two c.) three d.) four e.) five f.) six

  29. 5.) What is matter? a.) Matter is what you have to do for homework. b.) Matter is what you say to your friends. c.) Matter is what things are made of. d.) Matter is married to your fatter.

  30. 6.) Who can explain the three states of matter using an ice cube as an example?

  32. 8.) After the cloud becomes heavy with moisture it will eventually… a.) Stain b.) Pain c.) Train d.) Rain

  33. 9.) The process where a solid turns into a liquid, evaporates into a gas, and then falls from the clouds as rain is called the… a.) Bicycle b.) Icicle c.) Thunder Storm Cycle d.) Tricycle e.) Water Cycle f.) Motorcycle g.) Dirt Cycle

  34. 10.) When the gas reaches the sky it cools and adheres to what type of particles? a.) Rust b.) Barnacles c.) Dust d.) Crust
