In thecontextofourefforts topromoteinvestmentinenergyinfrastructure,notablyin clean,affordableandsustainableenergy,andinorder to engageallinterestedparties,weencourageinterestedregulatorstocontinuetheirdialogueandasktheESWGtotakenoteofthisdialogue. Manycountriesaretryingto improvetheirenergymixanduse,suchasbypromotingrenewableand/ornuclearenergy. Nuclearpowerisalow-carbonoption,butitis capitalintensiveandcomeswithresponsibilitiesfornuclearsafety,securityandsafeguards/nonproliferation. G20countries,whethernascentorestablishednuclearpowerproducersshouldstriveforthehighestpossiblelevelofnuclearsafety,tofosterrobustnuclearsafetyandnuclearsecurityculturesand,ascalledforintheInternationalAtomicEnergyAgency(IAEA)ActionPlanonNuclearSafety,weencourage multilateralcooperation towardsachievingaglobalnuclearliabilityregime. Weappreciatetheprogress achievedsincetheestablishmentoftheG20GlobalMarineEnvironmentProtection(GMEP)InitiativeandwelcomethelaunchoftheGMEP InitiativewebsiteasakeyelementoftheGMEPMechanismforthevoluntaryexchangeofnationalbestpracticestoprotectthemarineenvironment,inparticulartopreventaccidentsrelatedtooffshore oilandgasexplorationanddevelopment,aswellasmarinetransportation,and todealwiththeirconsequences.
