Departure – Sunday, July 14 • Leaving from the Christiana High School parking lot by the tennis courts • Be there by 11:30 am • We will NOT be stopping for lunch, so eat an early lunch • Wear “Class A” Uniform (No Neckerchief) • Bring swim suit and towel in a “carry on bag” • Make sure that all medical forms are complete and turned into Mr. Wool by NEXT MONDAY NIGHT. • Bring all medication labeled with scouts name
Return – Saturday, July 20 • Time – Between 12:00 and 1:00 pm • Tentative (Calls will be made) • Location – Salem United Methodist Church
What to Bring (Label your stuff) • Gear Container – Footlocker • Camp Chair (optional) • Insect Netting (optional) • Sleeping Gear • Sleeping Bag (or lightweight covers) and sheet • Pillow or Inflatable Pillow • Clothes for the week • Class B T-Shirts (2 Tan, 1 Red) • Full class A Uniform - 2 pair Scout socks • Other summer clothing, warmer clothes for cool nights, scout related shirts • Personal Hygiene Stuff • Toothbrush and toothpaste (troop teeth cleaning day!)
What to Bring (Label your stuff) • Day Pack and Scout Essentials • Water Bottle • Your BOY SCOUT HANDBOOK • Merit Badge books and prerequisites • Money for trading post • Mess Kit for Merit Badge and First Year Outposts • Button Down Shirt and Lightweight Pants for Swimming MB
What NOT to Bring • Electronic Games, Music Players, Other Entertainment Devices • iPods, DS’s, etc. • Cell Phones • Candles • Aerosol Products • Open toed footwear • Fireworks • Personal Firearms • Drugs / Alcohol / Tobacco • A Bad Attitude
What Will Send You Home • Bullying • Fighting • Failure to follow the Scout Oath and Law • And lastly… Throwing rocks at bee hives • Parents will be called to pick their scout up from camp if he must be sent home
Program / Daily Schedule • Polar Bear Swim 2 mornings • 3 meals in the dinning hall • Merit badges in morning and afternoon • Siesta after lunch • Evening programs • Thursday Night Troop Meeting in Camp • Opening campfire Sunday, closing on Friday • Camp wide Games • Special OA events for members
Other Items • Scouts responsible for getting to classes • Buddy system in effect • Troop 601 will look like a troop • Class “B” shirts on different days – including scout shorts and socks • Uniform every evening, every scout and adult must wear or won’t eat dinner • Anything scouts will need to know will be posted on the troop bulletin board in camp • Duty roster, waiter schedule, class b color schedule, camp map, daily schedule, merit badge class list
Do’s • Follow the scout oath and Law • Bring all the necessary equipment that you just heard about • Where you “Class A” to retreat and dinner every day (including shorts or pants) • Take a buddy with you wherever you go • Tell the SPL or Scoutmaster when you leave the campsite. • Practice good hygiene • -Take a shower every day • -Brush your teeth • -Go to the health officer (Mr. Kiger) to take you medication when you need to • - (Remember, you parents aren’t there to tell you what to do) • Go to all your classes, and get there on time
Do’s • Drink lots of water to keep hydrated (A hydrated scout is a happy scout; a dehydrated scout is a dead scout) • Eat something at every meal even if you don’t like it • Always abide by the camp rules • Listen to the adult leaders and camp councilors. • Go to sleep when its lights out, so your not tired for the next day • Wear sunscreen during the day • Wear bug spray at night, and optionally sleep under bug netting • Get to the dinning hall 15 minutes early if you are scheduled to be a waiter • HAVE FUN!!!!
Don’ts • Run in camp • Wear open toed shoes • Forget to move you buddy tag when leaving the waterfront or pool • Bring any unnecessary stuff to camp, i.e. Electronics • Make a waterslide down bull mountain and gash your leg open
