BACKGROUND • Need for consistency • Standard reporting format for all games where an assessment feedback is required • Does not replace Referee Coaching Form or IRB Assessment Form • Use where IRB Assessment is not required
PURPOSE • Provide an easy and simple method of assessing or evaluating performance • Use in “differentiating” or grading referees • Training tool for inexperienced assessors • Gain knowledge to move to IRB Form
BASIS OF REPORT • Based on IRB descriptors • Simple and informative • Score out of 100 • Provision for notating Law errors not covered by descriptors • Provision for critical incidents and brief comments on the referee’s performance • Match statistics would be also submitted • Team Management Report may also be included
WHERE TO USE • Premier Rugby in Sydney and Brisbane • National Championships • Australian Rugby Shield • State Championships (eg NSW Country Carnival) • Other tournaments (eg Sthn Prov Championships) • Other representative games involving National Panel where a full IRB Assessment is not considered necessary
HOW TO COMPLETE • Collect match information using “Match Information Form” • Time annotate each entry • Post match: clarify any issues with the referee and review the video to confirm points • Complete the Referee Evaluation Form as follows…
Page 1- Game and General Information • Complete Game Details section • Complete General Comments – dot points only • Complete Errors in Law section
Page 2 – Marking Section • For each error against a criterion deduct one mark • For each error against a criterion note the time of the error on the “Time Notation” line below the “Competency Descriptor” • Add up the highest number remaining for each criterion and determine the score out of 100, entered at the bottom of the page • Submit form to nominated person responsible for the competition
