  6. Romans 6:3-5 • Rom 6:3;Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? • Rom 6:4;Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. • Rom 6:5;For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection

  7. Water baptism is one of the most important and significant acts of worship and obedience you can give to God! Wednesday, May 1 at The Mission Church

  8. WATER BAPTISM IS A BURIAL • Rom 6:4;Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death • Water Baptism is a portrayal, a reenactment of the death & burial of Jesus Christ • Every time a person is baptized, God sees a reenactment of the death & burial of Jesus Christ that is pleasing to Him • Isaiah 53:10; …yet it pleased the Lord to bruise Him…

  9. WATER BAPTISM IS A BURIAL • Water Baptism pleases God because you’re affirming the necessity and the value of the death of His Son • As you’re buried in water, you’re reenacting the death and burial of Christ, but putting yourself in that role. • You’re declaring, “It was my sin that buried Christ in the grave, it was my sin that sent him to the cross, it was ME that He died for!”

  10. WATER BAPTISM IS A BURIAL • Water Baptism also declares, “I’m being buried with Christ because I am dead myself!” • Gal 2:20; I am crucified with Christ… • Col. 3:5; Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth... • That old man of sin is dead, and water baptism is his burial!

  11. WATER BAPTISM IS A RESURRECTION • Rom 6:4; therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. • Being raised up out of the water symbolizes Jesus Christ’s resurrection from the grave

  12. WATER BAPTISM IS A RESURRECTION • Heb9:12; Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. • When Jesus stepped out of tomb, showed us that the sacrifice of His blood was accepted by the Father. • When a person rises up from baptism, they are reenacting the resurrection of Christ and (by faith) identifying with it personally! • It is BEING ALIVE UNTO GOD THROUGH JESUS CHRIST

  13. WATER BAPTISM IS A PROCLAMATION • Rom 6:5; …we have been united together in the likeness of His death • Water Baptism was regarded as the beginning point of one’s association with the Body of Christ and public obedience to the Faith.

  14. WATER BAPTISM IS A PROCLAMATION • Jesus never intended for our faith to be a private, personal matter • Mat 10:32-33;Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven. • Wednesday, May 1 at The Mission Church

  15. What about “Infant Baptism?” • Biblical Water Baptism requires… • FAITH AND REPENTANCE • Acts 2:38; repent and be baptized… • Acts 8:36-37; If you believe with all your heart… • FULL IMMERSION IN WATER • Matthew 28:19; Mark 16:16 • Greek word is “Baptizo”; it means to submerge, cover, dip (like dying a piece of cloth)
