Objectives • Description of PressurePro System • Identify system components • Display and Operational Modes • Sensor alerts • Checking of tire pressures • Manual checking of tire pressures • Daily/Weekly tire pressure checks • Sensor transmit recap • Summary
Description PressurePro : • Is a wireless electronic tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) designed to display tire pressures. • Capable of displaying current tire pressures on demand, whether moving or stationary. • Is a monitoring system and will not prevent tires from losing pressure or failing. • Consists of two basic components. Display/Monitor and Tire Sensors.
System Components Monitor: • Shows individual tire pressures and location on vehicle. • Can alert the driver via an audible and visual signal of a low or high pressure situation. • Wired to battery “Master” switch for power.
System Components Tire Sensors: • Screws onto valve stem of the tires. • Transmit a coded RF signal if pressure drops or increases. • Reads tire pressure 12,343 times each day (every 7 seconds). • Transmits updated readings to the monitor • Sealed non-replaceable battery. (Fire Shop)
Tire Sensor Cont. Note: Some of the Sensors transmission may be interfered with because of the following: • Quirks of RF transmissions. • Outside interference. • Signal reception. Due to these facts PressurePro is not meant to function as a pressure gauge or a low pressure indicator. PressurePro is a tire pressure monitoring system that displays tire pressures and which, when a signal is received, will signal low pressures.
Display and Operational Modes Display Layout Not Applicable Pressure Readout “Status” Indicator Light
Operational Modes Normal Mode: • Monitor is in Normal Mode when first powered up (Battery master switch on). • Monitor is listening for sensor updates and alerts in Normal Mode. • Green light below “SET” button flashes every 5 seconds. • Tire pressures can be displayed by selecting a tire with the “UP” or “DOWN” arrow button. • Note: Once the arrow “UP” or “DOWN” button has been depressed the current Tire location will flash (All other tire position indicators will be solid) and the current pressure will be displayed. If there are three dashes in the pressure display, that means it has not updated the pressure from the tire sensor. It can take up to 5 minutes to update the pressure. This is normal and if there is a change in the tire pressure it will send the info immediately to the monitor.
Normal Mode Green “Status” light blinks every 5 seconds
Operational Modes Cont. Program Mode (Fire Shop Use Only): • Used for programming sensors to the monitor. • When in program mode green light is solid below “SET” button.
Program ModeFire Shop Use ONLY Green “Status” Light is solid
SENSOR ALERTS First Stage Low Pressure Alert • (Alerts at 12.5% pressure loss from initial pressure installation). • A first stage alert will “Beep”, and flash tire location, and display low pressure - once per second – until the low pressure is corrected or the “SET” button is pressed putting the Monitor in “Reminder Mode” . Pull over, inspect tire and repair. If no button is pressed to mute system – system will continue to alert.
FIRST STAGE LOW PRESSURE ALERT All non-affected tire positions will be solid Red Audio “BEEP” will sound 98 Tire position indicator flashes once per second Current tire pressure flashes once per second Green “Status” light blinks every 5 seconds
SENSOR ALERTS Second Stage Low Pressure Alert • (Alerts at 25% pressure loss from initial pressure installation). • A second stage alert will “Beep”, flash tire location and pressure value twice per second. • If no button is pressed to mute system - system will alert until low pressure is corrected or for a total of 15 hours. Pull over, inspect tire and repair.
SECOND STAGE LOW PRESSURE ALERT All non-affected tire positions will be solid Red Audio “BEEP” will sound 68 Tire position indicator flashes twice per second Current tire pressure flashes twice per second Green “Status” light blinks every 5 seconds
SENSOR ALERTS Reminder Mode: • To “Mute” the audible alert, place into “Reminder” mode by pressing the “SET” button briefly. • The audible alert will sound periodically. • The tire position indicator will continue to flash for the affected tire position.
REMINDER MODE Audio “BEEP” will sound periodically Alerted / silenced tire position will continue to flash Green “Status” light blinks every 5 seconds
SENSOR ALERTS “Signal Check-in” Feature • Sensors send short millisecond “Check-in” signal bursts regularly. • As with RF devices, a signal may be lost or interrupted. • IF signal is lost or interrupted, the monitor will light that wheel location with a solid light – (There is no alert beep). • If this type of alert continues, it may indicate a sensor has been removed, lost or damaged or a signal is not being received – check that sensor’s location.
“SIGNAL CHECK IN” FEATURE Tire position indicator solid Green “Status” light blinks every 5 seconds
SENSOR ALERTS Multiple Low Pressure Alerts • In the unlikely event that multiple alerts occur, the monitor will flash all low locations with low pressures. • When selected, a tire location with an alert will flash its pressure and position while the alert sounds. (Non-selected low pressure tires will flash their wheel location every 2 seconds.)
SENSOR ALERTS High Pressure Alerts • Alerts at determined percentage over initial pressure at installation of sensors. • The factory setting for this alert is at 24% over initial tire pressure at installation.
HIGH PRESSURE ALERTS All non-affected tire positions will be solid Red Audio “BEEP” will sound 130 Tire position indicator flashes once per second Current tire pressure flashes once per second Green “Status” light blinks every 5 seconds
Checking of Tire Pressures Checking Tire Pressure (Monitor) • Sensors send an updated pressure reading approx. every 5 minutes. Pressing the “UP” or “DOWN” button, (Monitor in Normal Mode), will select a tire location to display. • The current tire position will flash and the pressure will be displayed. If the monitor displays three dashes then it can take up to 5 minutes to display current pressure.
Checking of Tire Pressures (MONITOR) Pressing “UP” scrolls tire position clockwise Pressing “DOWN” scrolls tire position counter-clockwise 101 Tire position indicator flashes once per second Current tire pressure Green “Status” light blinks every 5 seconds
Checking of Tire Pressures(Only to confirm PressurePro alarm/s) Manually Checking Tire Pressures and Inflating Tires • With a quality pressure gauge and tire at ambient temperatures. (Cold pressure, not driven) • Locate tire pressure recommendations on Vehicle Manufactures’ I.D. Plate on driver’s side door jam. • Remove sensor, (Monitor will now read “00” and give an audible alert), check pressure, and inflate if necessary. • Replace sensor back onto valve stem, there should be the sound of air escaping the valve, continue until sensor stops leaking air and is hand tight. • The display will now read the current air pressure. • Leaving a sensor off for more than 60 seconds sets a new pressure level – alert level will now be based on new pressure. Note: Sensors are programmed to represent the tire position on the monitor/display. Do not remove more than one sensor at any time.
Daily/Weekly Tire Pressure Checks Daily/Weekly Tire Pressure Checks (PressurePro installed vehicle systems) • Inspect tires for visual damage or wear. • Check PressurePro Display to see current tire pressures. • If at any time the PressurePro System goes into any system alerts, check the following items. 1. Check tire for any signs of visual damage. 2. Confirm sensor is on valve stem and is on tight not leaking. (Check for leaks with a solution of 1 part liquid soap to 2 parts water - look for bubbles which indicate a leak) 3. If both items are OK, remove sensor and check tire pressure with a mechanical gauge.
Daily/Weekly Tire Pressure Checks 4. If tire pressure is OK then replace sensor within 60 seconds and see if alarm disappears. 5. If tire pressure is low and above items verified, inflate tire to correct tire pressure and reinstall sensor. (see warning) 6. If this does not correct sensor alarm. Notify Fire Shop for further information, thru proper chain of command. WARNING: Due to the fact that checking and removing the sensor for more than 60 seconds relearns the current tire pressure once the sensor is replaced, there is a high probability the tire is not cold and a false pressure setting will result. The Fire Shop will be responsible at PM time to correct and reset tire pressure/sensors when tires are still cold.
Sensor Transmit Recap Sensor Transmits when these events occur: • Within 60 seconds of screwing sensor onto the valve stem. • Every 5 minutes while updating, under normal conditions. • At 12.5% drop from baseline pressure. • At 25% drop from baseline pressure. • At the Upper Pressure alert level 25% above baseline pressure. • When a sensor is removed from its valve stem.
Summary The PressurePro Tire Sensor should ONLY be removed when: • Alarm is sounding • Low tire pressure problem • High tire pressure problem • Malfunctioning tire pressure monitor system If any question or issues reference the owner’s manual first, then Fire Shop.
