  3. Got the iPad 64GB + 3G • Idea was to have Bb access • Mail • Web • ...While traveling overseas and teaching!

  4. 3G and Expense • 3G is good for when a WiFi is not near. $29 a month unlimited. • 3G plan does NOT work overseas • Choices: a country SIM card or a special plan, which I bought • VERY EXPENSIVE PLAN!

  5. In Venice... • The international “Data Roaming” plan worked but very very slow • Workflow was to turn on, download emails, turn off data roaming • Read emails, answer, then quickly turn data roaming back on

  6. On Board Ship • Purchased a 60 cents a minute WiFi plan • VERY SLOW • Have to work quickly like experiences in Venice

  7. BlackBoardiPad APP • Still in testing • It works for asking and answering discussion posts • Not for any Bb heavy lifting!

  8. What Works? • Near a wifi? GREAT! Safari, mail, all work fine and fast. • 3G is slower if not near wifi but works. • More and more apps for iPad are going up. • EASY to carry. Light in weight. • Connected to my email, contacts, and calendar through MobileMe (all of my computers sync up nicely) • Easy to read books and magazines and do web research

  9. What Doesn’t Work So Well? • NOT a replacement for laptop or desktop! • A big harder to carry than an iPhone/iPod but text easier to see • On screen keyboard not as easy as regular keyboard (but can hook a Bluetooth keyboard to it) • iPad app not quite ready • Can write, but not like on computer

  10. Favorite Apps So Far? • Safari browser • Email • Drudge, FoxNews, USA Today, etc... • Dropbox • Twitter • Facebook • Ibook • P2G – Flickr portfolios • WattPad: ebooks • Zinio Magazine Reader
