Introduction to document • This document is a template for the report to deliver results the of the supplier capability development capability assessment • It contains an overview of the assessment tool, including the capability areas covered and the way in which questions are weighted and scored • Results are to be presented as an overview, followed by a breakdown by capability area • The spread sheet ‘template for supplier results scores’ should be used in conjunction with this template. Instructions for its use are contained within the spread sheet • Supplier assessors should use their experience from the assessments to populate the observations and experiences • Individual supplier scores should not be included in this report, to protect the identity of the suppliers
The Capability Model assesses suppliers against 10 Capability Areas Supplier Capability Areas Strategic Management Procurement & Supply Premises Distribution & Transportation Interaction with Customers Finance Leadership Product Quality Information Technology Human Resources
Subsumed in the 10 Capability Areas are 41 Competency Areas and 172 questions Capability Model – Assessment Tool Stats • Example 1 • Financial Management • Accounting • Do you clearly separate between private and business money? • Example 2 • Product Quality • Perishable handling expertise • Is the product kept in the right conditions during processing?
For each question in the Capability Model a good practice / requirement is defined and up to 5 points can be scored Capability Model Structure (1/2) Assessment Tool Structure Evaluation Method
Each question is prioritized and weighted accordingly to come up with a score per Capability Area and Competency Area Capability Model Structure (2/2) Allocation & Weighting Method Points per Question = Score x Weight where weight depends on the priority. Points per question are added up to arrive at Capability Area and Competency Area scores
Each Supplier Capability Area relates to specific goals derived from the project vision Inclusive / Commercial (long-term) Commercial (short-term) ü ü ü ü ü ü ü ü ü ü ü ü ü ü ü ü ü ü ü ü 1) Retailers requirements of suppliers. This column is ticked if the supplier's capability directly impacts the retailer 2) Suppliers’ requirements to improve their own business – regardless of any specific customer

Overall and on average, the 9 pilot suppliers score a 2.8 on a scale from 1-5
