  2. Soviet Camp System • City children were sent to the country • The basic daily program hasn’t changed at all • Kids are kept busy all day with sports, games, competitions, and arts and crafts

  3. Soviet Camp System • Kids are separated into 20 groups • Each group generally has 12 kids • They’re separated by age and level of English • A full-time Russian group leader is with the kids at all times, except English class

  4. Soviet Camp System • BKC’s camp is located 95 km northeast of Moscow in a working sanatorium

  5. What we do • 10:30-12:00 middle groups, ages 9-13 • 12:15-13:00 young groups, ages 6-9 • 16:30-17:15 young groups, ages 6-9 • 17:30-19:00 teenagers, ages 13-17 • All the kids study for 2 academic hours a day for 10 days

  6. What we do • Monday through Thursday of the first week, and Sunday through Friday of the second week • The first Saturday is Parent’s Day, parents come to visit but are generally not interested in the English program • The teachers also do a 1 hour English activity 2 times a session

  7. What we teach • No coursebook • Each week has a general theme with plenty of resources for teaching to all levels
