Windows 10 - 5 Top Features on Microsoft Operating System Microsoft continues to innovate with Windows 10. For individuals and organizations, Windows 10 is a more seamless and customizable platform for personal and professional use. Of the many and varied new features of Windows 10, here are five: 1. Start Menu Windows start menu has made its comeback. The start menu now pops up with two panels with one the left side showing recently used and frequently used apps for easy access. You are also able to expand this start menu so that it fills the entire screen. This start menu is customizable; along with being able to resize it, you can pin and unpin the tiles (apps) that appear and resize them too. You can turn off live tiles to remove flashing updates, group tiles together and pick which folders appear in the start menu. This start menu also provides options to Hibernate, Standby and Shutdown your computer. 2. Xbox Application Video games are a massive industry with large campaign releases and a huge fanbase. Microsoft will now be able to place a foot in the world of videogames and cater to this fanbase. Windows 10 will have an operating system that can support Xbox games
streaming and take the world of gaming PC’s to a whole new level. This operating system will be able to stream Xbox games with high-quality graphics and speed. This new addition includes the Xbox Game Bar, which give you access to widgets for screen capturing and sharing, and the ability to chat with other Xbox friends. This game bar is customizable. 3. Multitasking Made Better Many offices set up two screens per employee for a reason. Many tasks performed on a computer require multitasking, be it working on an Excel spreadsheet while referring to an e-mail for data. Microsoft has introduced a virtual desktop that can house multiple windows in place of simply stacking windows one on top of the other as in Windows versions of the past. You can even customize these virtual desktops with one containing personal windows and apps while another contains work-related windows and apps. 4. Cortana Just when you thought smart devices couldn’t get any smarter, Microsoft has integrated Cortana to desktop computers. A voice-controlled digital assistant, Cortana will allow you to use your computer with just your voice. At your command, Cortana can pull up images by date, open Microsoft Word or search for files. Cortana can even send e-mails on your behalf. Cortana ups the game on multitasking. 5. Universal Applications With the multiple devices that people often have, bouncing between them yet keeping the same information and access has not always been an evident task to accomplish. With Windows 10, Microsoft has released Universal Apps, a category of software that adapts user interface to match the device in use. With content being stored and synced
via OneDrive, Universal Apps will allow user experience to be seamless between devices.
