Reason for Needing Replacement • Nothing in HyperTerminal is Buffered • Caused Bug in my KYSat Software UART • Can’t send raw Hexadecimal characters • Needed to change baud rate for LCD • Had to find hex editor (need a good one) • Change text file in Hex • Send text file in HyperTerminal • Sending Repeated Characters in HyperTerminal will sometimes not work

Goals for Replacement • Easy to pick up and use • During search I shorted Tx and Rx pin and tried to send and receive something, if I couldn’t get it to work in 2 mins I quit and found something else • FREE • Find something anyone can download quickly off internet • Be able to send hexadecimal easily

  4. Different Options • RealTerm • wSHDCom • SuperTerm 2.14 • Terminal v1.9b

  5. RealTerm • Looked Like it could do everything I wanted, even has a tab for I2C • Failed • 2 min test

  6. wSCHDComm • Could output characters but was displaying everything in hex and binary • Has the ability to create plug-ins • Failed • 2 min test

  7. SuperTerm 2.14 • Could only use com ports 1-6 • I have USB dongle and comes up at like com 8 • Failed

  8. Terminal v1.9b • Passed all Tests
