Mood induction The Velten technique is an overt mood induction; participants are told to read positive sentences in order to get into a positive mood or negative sentences in order to get into a negative mood. Music can be used as overt or covert mood induction techniques; it is known that music has a better effect if it is used as overt mood induction.
