  2. 9-8-10 Poetry Response-Bell Work: The Loco Boys The Loco Boys were rustlers Who rode the western plains. A pack of mangy outlaws, They came up short on brains. The ranchers plain ignored them, No posse chased those thieves. They never rustled cattle- They only rustled leaves.

  3. Review: • What were the two genres we talked about yesterday. • Tell me what they are and then explain them.

  4. 9-8-10 Objectives: • I will review genres in reading and writing. • I will write two short papers using Realistic Fiction and Autobiography. • HW: Finish Papers.

  5. Vocabulary: • Realistic Fiction-A story using made-up characters, but the story could happen in real life. • Autobiography-The story of a real person’s life that is written by that person.

  6. Introduction to Realistic Fiction: • The characters are ALWAYS made up. • The story could happen in real life.

  7. Introduction to Autobiography: • The story is real. • The character is real. • The story is about the life of the person writing the book.

  8. Look through the books on your table. • Do you have any books that you think are Realistic Fiction? • Do you have any books that are an Autobiography?

  9. The task: Write two stories: One story will be a Realistic Fiction story. The second story will be an autobiography.

  10. Guidelines: • The stories do not have to be that long. • However, you do need to introduce the characters and tell me about them. • You will also need to make me understand how they are Realistic Fiction and an autobiography. • Have a beginning, middle and end. • If you do not finish in class these are for homework.

  11. Closure: • Name a book you have read that is one of the types of genres we talked about today. • How do you know it is from that genre? • Use facts to support your answer.

  12. Long Term Review: • Why is it important to know about school safety?
