11. SECOND LESSON – GOD PROTECTS HIS PEOPLE GOD MAY PROTECT “FROM” OR “THROUGH” PERSECUTION

SEAL -A SIGN OF OWNERSHIP AND PROTECTION “After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth to prevent any wind from blowing on the land or on the sea or on any tree. 2 Then I saw another angel coming up from the east, having the seal of the living God. He called out in a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm the land and the sea: 3 “Do not harm the land or the sea or the trees until we put a seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God.” 4 Then I heard the number of those who were sealed: 144,000 from all the tribes of Israel.” -Rev. 7:1-4

13. PROTECTION FROM TORMENT “The fifth angel sounded his trumpet, and I saw a star that had fallen from the sky to the earth. The star was given the key to the shaft of the Abyss. 2 When he opened the Abyss, smoke rose from it like the smoke from a gigantic furnace. The sun and sky were darkened by the smoke from the Abyss. 3 And out of the smoke locusts came down on the earth and were given power like that of scorpions of the earth. 4 They were told not to harm the grass of the earth or any plant or tree, but only those people who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads.

And the agony they suffered was like that of the sting of a scorpion when it strikes. 6 During those days people will seek death but will not find it; they will long to die, but death will elude them.” -Rev. 9:1-6

15. PROTECTION THROUGH TORMENT “Whoever has ears, let them hear. 10“If anyone is to go into captivity, into captivity they will go. If anyone is to be killed with the sword, with the sword they will be killed.” This calls for patient endurance and faithfulness on the part of God’s people.” -Rev. 13:9-10

17. THIRD LESSON – GOD AT TIMES SENDS CALAMITY TO BRING ABOUT REPENTANCE WARNING – NOT ALL CALAMITY COMES FROM GOD. REMEMBER JOB ONE MAY NOT KNOW WHY DIFFICULTIES COME

18. “The rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues still did not repent of the work of their hands; they did not stop worshiping demons, and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood—idols that cannot see or hear or walk. 21 Nor did they repent of their murders, their magic arts, their sexual immorality or their thefts.”Rev. 9:20,21 DID NOT REPENT

19. “They were seared by the intense heat and they cursed the name of God, who had control over these plagues, but they refused to repent and glorify him.”Rev. 16:9
