So, why use ? • Comes pre-loaded on the Raspberry Pi • No writing code – scripts are created by snapping blocks together • Programming with Scratch is more like putting together a puzzle • The following game was produced in 10 minutes by a group of Year 8 pupils A great introduction to Programming for students
Inspiration from relation • Up and Running in 10 minutes is about finding ideas for pupils to create their Scratch game • In practice many ideas were formed by activities which were relatable to pupils. With Scratch, it is easy to create simple and fun games What activities were relatable?
Inspiration from relation • Over time I noticed, most pupils used their mobile devices to play on various video games • By relating how various video game features could be implemented in pupil’s Scratch games. • Pupils were easily able to identify the end product of their Scratch game.
Up and running • The ideas developed from the examples of video games pupils had played was the key to enabling pupils to develop their games in 10 minutes • This bolstered pupils creativity and more programming in Scratch more enjoyable as pupils were able to relate to their work.
