ORIGIN OF THE IQUITOS ASSOCIATION. • IN THE 2006-2007 SCHOOL YEAR, SCHOOL COMMUNITY THROUGH “RINCÓN DE SOLIDARIDAD” IN COLINDRES ORGANIZED DIFFERENT ACTIVITIES SO THAT TINKU ASSOCIATION COULD DEVELOP A COOPERATION PROJECT IN IQUITOS, IN THE PERUVIAN AMAZON.
CHARITY FESTIVAL ORGANIZED BY ESTRYMENS ACADEMY DRAWING OF A CHRISTMAS BASKET DONATED BY TEACHERS
RESTAURANTS OF COLINDRES DONATE FOOD AND THEN IT´S SOLD FOR 1 EURO DESSERTS AND TORTILLAS CONTESTS. PREPARATED BY FAMILIES
SOME TEACHERS WERE THERE AND WE PAINT AND REHABILITED A HOUSE, BESIDES WE BROUGHT DOZENS OF BOOKS AND TEACH SOME INTERESTING WORKSHOPS: SINGING, CRAFTS, STORYTELLING ETC. TODAY CHILDREN AND YOUTH OF THE SUBURB GATHER THIS PLACE TO PLAY, LEARN, READ AND THINGS LIKE THAT. THIS SUBURB IS FAR AWAY FROM THE CENTRE OF THE CITY, AND IT IS VERY HUMBLE AND LOTS OF CHILDREN DIE EACH YEAR BECAUSE OF ILLNESSES SUCH AS MALARIA AND DENGUE.

2. PROJECT IN IQUITOS (PERÚ). UNFORTUNATELY TINKU ASSOCIATION DISAPPEARED AND A GROUP OF FRIENDS: ABOVE ALL TEACHERS DECIDED TO CREATE AN NGO CALLED “IQUITOS ASSOCIATION” WITH THE HELP OF THE COMPANY “AULA 14 S.L”. WE KNEW THE NEEDS OF THE CONTEXT AND SERIOUS PEOPLE IN IQUITOS, SO WE START A PROJECT RELATED TO EDUCATION CALLED: “TAMBO- HUARMI. UNIVERSITY WOMEN 2009- 2015” In Quechua “Tambo” means house and “Huarmi” woman.
WHERE DO WE GET THE MONEY FOR THE ASSOCIATION? • 40 MEMBERS. • GRANTS OF DIFFERENT MUNICIPALITIES FOR EXAMPLE: CAMARGO, RENEDO AND SANTANDER. • SOME EDUCATIONAL PROJECTS. • THE COMPANY AULA 14 S.L. • WE DO AUDITS EACH YEAR.
WHY ONLY WOMEN? • SEXISM IN THE PERUVIAN SOCIETY. • WOMEN HAVE LESS OPORTUNITIES, ARE LESS RATED THAN MEN. • IF THERE ARE A BOY AND A GIRL IN A FAMILY, THE BOY WILL STUDY AT UNIVERSITY, NEVER THE GIRL. AS IN SPAIN 30 YEARS AGO.
OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT “TAMBO – HUARMI” • - 14 WOMEN WITH LOW INCOMES, BUT WITH GREAT ACADEMIC MARKS CAN STUDY AT UNIVERSITY AND BE A PROFFESIONAL. • WE BRING UP IN AN ACADEMIC AND MORAL WAY. • ON THE HAND THE ASSOCIATION PAY EVERYTHING: THEIR PUBLIC TRANSPORT TO GO TO THE UNIVERSITY, THEIR BOOKS, THE ENROLLMENT COURSES ETC, BUT ON THE OTHER HAND THEY MUST DO WITH SOCIAL ACTIVITIES WITH THE POOR, SICK PEOPLE, KIDS ETC. AND OF COURSE THEY HAVE TO PASS THEIR EXAMS. • - “TO CLOSE THE CIRCLE”, WHEN THEY WILL GET THEIR DEGREES (THIS YEAR 5 PEOPLE), THEY HAVE TO WORK TO CHANGE THE TRADITIONAL VALUES TOWARDS GENDER EQUALITY.

3. PROJECTS AND ACTIVITIES IN CANTABRIA (SPAIN). “TERRACYCLE PROJECT” IN PORRUA PRIMARY SCHOOL THIS PROJECT CONSIST ON RECYCLING WORN PENS, TUBE OF GLUE, BROKEN RULES, MARKERS AND AT THE END OF COURSE A COMPANY WILL GIVE 2 CENTS FOR EACH OBJECT.
“A CAN, A SMILE PROJECT” (UN BOTE POR UNA SONRISA) IN 15 PRIMARY SCHOOLS IN CANTABRIA CHILDREN RECYCLE ALUMINUM CANS IN THEIR HOUSES AND THEN THEY BRING THEM TO THEIR SCHOOLS AND INTRODUCE IN A BIG DRUM. WHEN THE DRUM IS FULL, THE COMPANY SACO UTIL S.L TAKE TO RECYCLE AND FINALLY THEY GIVE US A SMALL AMOUNT OF MONEY OWING TO THE ALUMINIUM.
“GIVE TURN THINGS PROJECT” (DALE VUELTAS A LAS COSAS) IN PORRUA PRIMARY SCHOOL CANTABRIAN COORDINATOR OF NGO´S (COORDINADORA ONG´S DE CANTABRIA) MAKES SEVERAL DYNAMICS AND TALKS SO THAT STUDENTS CAN AWARE OF THE IMPORTANCE OF RECYCLING FOR THE ENVIRONMENT: ALUMINUM, PAPER, BATTERIES, ETC.
“INTERCULTURAL DAY” IN PORRUA PRIMARY SCHOOL WE SELL AMAZONIC PRODUCTS: RINGS, PEN, CARDS, OCARINAS, BLOWGUN AND SO ON FOR THE PROJECT. ALSO THE FAMILIES BRING FOOD TO SHARE WITH ALL THE SCHOOL COMMUNITY.

MY EXPERIENCE IN THE ASSOCIATION IN THESE YEARS. • I AM GLAD TO HELP PEOPLE WITH MANY PROBLEMS: ECONOMIC, FAMILY ETC. • I AM PROUD OF PUTTING MY GRAIN OF SAND SO THAT THESE WOMEN COULD FULFIL THEIR DREAMS.ALSO I HAVE KNOWN CARING AND KIND PEOPLE IN SPAIN WITH A HUGE HEART THAT DESPITE THE FACT THAT THERE IS A CRISIS, THEY CONTINUE HELPING POOR PEOPLE. AND IT´S ADMIRABLE.
5. WHY IS IT IMPORTANT? WHY IS IT RELEVANT? I CONSIDER THAT EVERYONE NEEDS AT LEAST A CHANCE TO SUCCEED IN LIFE. EDUCATION IS THE BASIS TO OVERCOME THE POVERTY AND ACHIEVE GENDER EQUALITY. NOTHING IS FREE AND THEY MUST HELP OTHERS TO RETURN THE FAVOR , AS IN THE MOVIE “PAY IT FORWARD”
