Judges illustrates the continual decline of the people of Israel into godlessness and idolatry and God’s continued faithfulness to them regardless. Ruth demonstrates a strain of righteousness that exists even in the midst of the chaos and anarchy of this era of Israel’s history.

It demonstrates that David’s house and lineage is godly and faithful to the Lord. On another level, Ruth is written to demonstrate that true faithfulness to God is always possible, even in the midst of a society that continuously denies him.
