NIF is conducting experiments to prepare cryogenic targets and diagnostics for ignition beginning in 2010
LIFE-Laser Inertial Fusion Energy Van Arsdall ICALEPCS Proposal 8
ICALEPCS is a biennial conference that rotates between the Americas, Asia and Europe • Conference series goals: • Forum for interchange of ideas and information between control system specialists working on large experimental physics facilities (accelerators, particle detectors, fusion reactors, lasers, telescopes, etc) • Create an archival literature of developments and progress in this rapidly changing discipline • Promote standardization in both hardware and software • Promote collaboration between laboratories, institutes and industry • Assist colleagues from industrially emerging nations in the realization of these goals.
ICALEPCS is organized by active specialists appointed by experimental physics institutes • Conference Chair • International Scientific Advisory Committee (ISAC) • ICALEPCS Executive Committee (IEC) • Site Selection Committee • Program Committee • Local Organizing Committee • Participates in Joint Accelerator Conference Website collaboration • JaCoW tools recommended for registration and online publication
ICALEPCS 2009 program tracks • Special Invited • Status Reports • Project Management & System Engineering • Control System Evolution • Safety/High Reliability & Major Challenges • Protection Systems • Hardware Technology • Reconfigurable Hardware • Industrial Systems in Controls • Software Technology Evolution • Web Technology • Process Tuning & Feedback Systems • Operational Tools • Data & Information Management • Fabric Management
