Monday, 9/24/12:Satellite Positioning • Objectives: • *Global Positioning System (GPS) is a method used to determine an exact location of a point on the earth using a coordinate system based on longitude and latitude readings. • Bellwork: • Make a KWL chart stating 3 things you KNOW about GPS, 3 things you WANT to know about GPS, and 3 things you LEARNED about GPS.

  3. GPS • Global Positioning System (GPS)units are precise positioning units that enable the user to return to an exact spot. • GPS uses triangulation to calculate an exact location. • Position is calculated from distance measurements (ranges) to satellites.
