Tariff • Postage as per weight • Registration fee (Compulsory) Rs.17 • VP Fee • Insurance fee if insured • Insurance compulsory if VP amount exceed Rs.500 • article containing documents of no Intrinsic Value insurance not compulsory even if value exceeds Rs.500 • Ex. Railway receipt, bills, invoices

  6. Concessional Registration Fee • Concessional Registration Fee Rs.2.50 • Conditions • Applicable for VP book packet containing printed Books • VP amount should be Rs.50 or less • Cost of books also should be Rs.50 or less

Salient Features • e VP is a cash on delivery system • Facility for Bulk customers • Biller (Sender) will be created by DO Admin • Electronic data through e-payment Network • Monitoring through MIS • Service available in all e-Payment offices • Deliverable through all Delivery POs • No VPMO form • eVP fee Rs.15 per article at the time of booking • Only VP amount is recovered from the addressee • Consolidated amount paid to the sender at Booking office • Booking through Meghdoot Point of Sale module & Delivery through MM Postman Module

  20. Objectives • More secured • Covers all risks in course of transmission • In case of loss, department pays compensation • Actual loss or Insured amount whichever is less • Articles which can be insured • Letters • Parcels

  21. Maximum Limits • Containing • Cash/Currency Notes Rs.20000 • Others Rs.100000 • Branch Offices can book Insured article up to Maximum limit of Rs.600

Insurance is compulsory • Insurance is compulsory, if Articles contain • Bullion (Gold/Silver/Platinum etc.,) • Precious Stones • Currency Notes & Coins • Insurance compulsory if VP amount exceed Rs.500 • article containing documents of no Intrinsic Value insurance not compulsory even if value exceeds Rs.500 • Ex. Railway receipt, bills, invoices

  24. Booking of Insured Article • Check for Weight limit, Packing & Proper Sealing • Insurance limit • Name & complete address of addressee and sender with PIN • Superscription “Insured for Rs…….” in words & figures (in case Ins VP, VP Amt & Ins Amt) • Status of postage paid

Conditions for packing • Strong Cover to be used • To be sealed with fine sealing wax of the same kind • Seals should be identical, impressions of a private device • Impressions on seals should not be of a current coin, not straight/curved/crossed line • Seals should be sufficient in number • Envelopes with colored borders or with transparent panel should not be used • In the case of parcels strong packing material should be used

  33. Parcels • Useful for transmission of goods • Not to be posted in letter box • To be presented at counter • One personal communication can be sent inside the parcel • Should not contain prohibited items • Should be properly packed • Registration compulsory for parcels weighing more than 4 Kgs

Parcels • Articles Prohibited from Transmission by Post •  Anything injurious. • Explosive, dangerous, filthy, noxious or deleterious substance. • Any sharp instrument not protected. • Any living creature which is either noxious or likely to injure postal articles or postal officer in course of transmission by post. • Tickets, proposals etc relating to unauthorized lotteries (does not include lottery organized or authorized by government.) • Anything indecent.
