Still surviving are remnants of the original brick and stone walls, an early prison, officers' mess, several cannons, and a lighthouse. Fort King George is the most preserved fort on the island. Also on the grounds, the Museum of Tobago displays collections of antique maps, African art, Amerindian artifacts, coins, and shells. 3.Pointe-a-Pierre Wildfowl Trust, Trinidad Amidst an oil refinery may seem like an odd place for a nature retreat, but this is one of the best bird watching spots in Trinidad. Surrounded by lush tropical foliage, this 30-hectare sanctuary includes an interpretive center and nature trails along lily-covered lakes, where you can spot species such as scarlet ibises, dull-black whistling ducks, and white-cheeked bats. The Pointe-a-Pierre Wildfowl Trust protects the reserve and works on rehabilitation and captive breeding programs for endangered species.
