The organization has more than 280,000 members in 13,500 clubs in 116 countries. Since 1924, Toastmasters International has helped people of all backgrounds become more confident in front of an audience. • The Youth Leadership program is designed to develop the speaking and leadership skills of young people. By developing these skills, young people will be better prepared to meet the demands and challenges of today’s world. Toastmasters is devoted to making effective oral communication a reality by helping young people learn the arts of speaking, listening, and thinking – vital skills that promote and enhance leadership potential. • The program is a workshop, and will be conducted in nine sessions. • Each session will last one hour. • Students learn how to prepare and present a speech, conduct meetings, listen effectively and evaluate what they have heard. • They will practice teamwork, and develop their capacities to translate values and strategies into productive actions. • By the end of the ninth session they’ll have developed self-confidence and interpersonal communication skills that they will use for the rest of their lives. CSX Toastmasters have coordinated this Youth Program with Mrs. Lemine for her Advanced Expository Class and it is approved by Mrs. Wagoner.
