Preliminary Project Ideas 2011 • Andrew: Portable mapping system – hiking oriented – periodically record location, • Jiaqi: for teaching – ring around your finger – can sync what you write on the computer • Kristin: Seaglider sensor data logger • Jenna: Stair-climbing robot: focused on moving, say, boxes up stairs

Preliminary Project Ideas 2011 • John: Theatre: gesture-sensing wirelessly enabled conductor’s baton with unobtrusive display system • John: seat management for a theatre so you know when it’s full or not • Michael: bicycle rental systems – figure out a way to do it small and low-cost without having to buy all new bikes and bike racks

Preliminary Project Ideas 2011 • Kevin: Data center energy use: cooling is lots: robot that patrols a data center getting temperature data, communicates with cooling system to manage temperature • Kevin: Surface mapping using GPS to map elevation – another sensor platform but autonomous movement creating self-directed map
