Reorganization – Agile Team Administrative Computing IT Enterprise and Learning Systems Telecommunications Technology Support Campus Technology Academic Computing ITLR Network and Infrastructure Media Services and Instructional Tech Telecommunications and Support Services Academic Computing
Focus: • Important to focus on how technology can support learning and service to students and staff. • As new technology becomes available how can we use it to provide better service to students and staff – Example Mobile “Up to the second – in your pocket – information”
Current Initiatives: • Portal – myTC3 – Finish single sign on for SIS, LMS, Email, Text Messaging, ID Card, general collaborative features in Sharepoint • Mobile Technology Initiative – Website tailored to smartphoneswww.mobile.tc3.edu. Texting – emergency and important info from faculty and admins (class cancelled, remember to study for the test next week…) • Green Technology – Id card printing, duplexing, virtualizing server farm, inactivity power downs in offices and classrooms • Investing in systems to save Campus Tech time – Wireless network management, automated password management on our portal, network/switch management, packet shaping, automating id creation from SIS.
What’s Next: • Open Source Textbooks • Mobile, Mobile, Mobile • “Web-Enhanced” courses using LMS • Finding ways to engage students – gaming, simulations, and video • Security… • Bandwidth management – smartphones, ipads, laptops, streaming video, hvac, appliances…
