Disasters set back development • Disasters impact various sectors like Agriculture, Health, Education, Infrastructure, Housing etc. • This causes diversion of resources to rehabilitation and reconstruction and sometime postponement/cancellation of development programs Development can also create disaster risks • DRR considerations not featuring into project design, thus increases the risks, and increasing the negative impact of disasters on the socio economic set up of the country
ThereforeDisasters and development needs to be dealt in unison – integration of DRR in policy, planning and development

Who Needs to do DRR Mainstreaming ? All organizations (governmental and non-governmental) require DRR Mainstreaming for effective, smooth and sustainable development. NDMA is focussing on the capacity building of selected ministries undertaking major infrastructure development programs/ projects.

Develop materials on DRR Mainstreaming (Common / Ministry-specific) Revision proposal for PC 1-5 formats after incorporating inputs from each Ministry.
