Challenges in a changing world – 1985-2006 • Food production • Agricultural research • Current use of EOSA Systems e.g. SPOT, MODIS, MSG, Hi-Resolution instruments such as IKONOS & QUICKBIRD • Global MEAs and governance • Millennium Development Goals, Millennium Assessment • Issues for consideration across all sections: • Developed Countries verse Developing countries • In situ verse Satellite • National verse Global
Chapter 2. Building for the Future – 2007-2020 • Vision towards societal benefits e.g. Food security, Poverty alleviation, Ecosystem protection & Hunger reduction • Objectives and outcomes e.g. Mapping and monitoring of changes in agricultural type and distribution • Major issues including: Land cover; Land use change; Surface water; Ground water; Crop productivity; Fire etc. • Facilitating coordination and interaction with countries • Actions required (Investment) • Building Capacity
