This project aims to establish an overall strategy for the environmental rescue and sustainability of the Lerma-Chapala basin, with the goal of implementing effective environmental plans and creating a mechanism for implementation and monitoring.

Goals General: Toset the overall strategy for the environmental rescue and sustainability of the Lerma-Chapala basin, conceptualized as a guided, adaptative, and flexible process. Specific: To establish environmental plans for the sub-basins under a scheme that allows progress in the medium term to a more detailed level of planning by sub-basin, and in the long term, toward a mechanism of implementation and monitoring allowing to get feedbacks for best decision making. 3

Conclusions • A strategy for the environmental rescue and sustainability of the Lerma-Chapala basin was developed • The process was conceptualized as guided, adaptative, and flexible • Stakeholder participation was determinant • An immediate action plan as well as long-term strategies were identified • Most actions are presently under course 13
