  2. Run out of petrol or diesel? If your car has run out of fuel, we can come to wherever you are at any time. We operate 24/7 all year round. When a car runs out of fuel there is every chance that the fuel filter will clog with sediment that has accumulated at the bottom of the fuel tank, making it difficult to restart the car when it is refuelled. If your car has a fuel injection system, the fuel injectors may be damaged when you run out of petrol or diesel. Needing a constant flow of lubrication and cooling, injectors function at high temperature and pressure so when they try to inject fuel on an empty tank, they fail because of overheating. We won't bore you with the merits of not running out petrol or diesel but really it is best to keep an eye on the fuel gauge because it's not just the inconvenience you have to consider but also the real damage it can do to your car, particularly if you have a fuel injection system.

How much of the incorrect fuel can I fill with safely? This is a difficult question to answer as it depends heavily on the engine and fuel system involved. In our experience if the quantity of wrong fuel is no more than a few liters it will not cause a noticeable problem, provided you dilute the incorrect fuel as much as possible by filling the tank with the correct fuel before starting the engine.
