WSP-ANTICIPATE.COM What are dark skies? A “Dark Sky” is a visible night sky in an area with very low levels of light pollution. In some areas you will see many stars, and sometimes even the Milky Way!
WSP-ANTICIPATE.COM There are 4 main sources of light pollution that would prevent an area from having a dark sky.
WSP-ANTICIPATE.COM Uplighting Any light sources that aim upwards.
WSP-ANTICIPATE.COM Glare Light sources that are not concealed, facing down and with narrow beam angles.
WSP-ANTICIPATE.COM Light trespass Light levels over 10 meters from a building’s roof that are over 3 lux.
WSP-ANTICIPATE.COM Color temperatures of over 3000K These create blue light emissions save for later
WSP-ANTICIPATE.COM An area may achieve Dark Sky status if it meets the requirements of the International Dark Sky Association (IDA), an organisation that works to protect our night skies.
