  6. What does a domino look like? • The top of the domino is the numerator • The bottom is the denominator and • The horizontal line is one long fraction bar (division)

  7. Steps for Dominoes • 1) In the first “domino” put in the amount and unit(s) that are going to be converted over the number 1. • NOTE: all “per” units go on the bottom (Ex. meters per second (m/s) meters goes on top and seconds goes on the bottom)

  8. Steps for Dominoes • 2) In the following dominoes: • the conversion factor for the units • metric units • prefix unit to base unit or • base unit to prefix unit • NOTE: the top and bottom of the domino should be equivalent (the same amount or equal)

  9. Steps for Dominoes • 3) If the unit, you are working with, is on top then the “domino” unit needs to go on the bottom • If the unit, you are working with, is on bottom then the “domino” unit needs to go on the top

  10. Steps for Dominoes 4) For metric dominoes: • The “multiplier” goes with the BASE unit, and “1” goes with the PREFIX unit

  11. Steps for Dominoes • 5) Calculate the domino by • multiplying everything on the top and • dividing everything on the bottom.
