  3. Evidence-based CME • Assures CME is developed and presented at with best available scientific evidence; physician expertise; and consideration of individual patient.

  4. AAFP EB CME Criteria • Key Practice Recommendations • AAFP approved EBM source (comprehensive, systematic review) • Strength of Evidence

  5. EB CME Enhanced Credit • 2:1 credit for activities that meet criteria* *Effective January 2005

  6. Point of Care Learning • Clinical decision support tools • Point of care/just-in-time

  7. Point of Care Learning • Identify the clinical question • Search the evidence for the answer • Implement (or not) with the patient

  8. AAFP Prescribed Credit • .5 Prescribed credits per inquiry • 15 credits/year max.*

  9. Performance Improvement in Practice • Stage A: Learning from evidence-based measures and current practice performance assessment (5 credits) • Stage B: Learning from the application of interventions to improve performance to patient care (5 credits) • Stage C: Learning from evaluation and re-measure (5 credits)

  10. Performance Improvement in Practice—Enhanced Credit • Completion of all three stages—20 Prescribed credits • Maintenance of Certification, Part IV
