  3. II. Blood Vessels • A. Forms a Closed Circulatory System • B. Arteries and arterioles • a. Arteries- carry blood away from the heart • b. arterioles- smaller branches of arteries that connect capillaries • C. Capillaries • a. Connect arterioles and venules
