CleanSweep EmployeeNewsletter March 2014 FromLauri’sDesk… March 2014 I don’t believe I have ever written about a vacation I went on but I spent last week in San Jose, Mexico.  The reason I want to write about it is because I was so impressed with the staff at the resort.  In fact I was so impressed that I wanted to bring them all home with me or start a janitorial company there.  Their work ethic is absolutely amazing.  I talked about it several times during the week.  Everyone from the staff at the front desk to the store clerks to the custodians were not only friendly but extremely courteous on how they conducted themselves.  I know the pay isn’t very good.  I know they work a ton of hours.  I know they have to clean up a lot of messes that people make.  I definitely know they have to work in the heat because it was very hot there.  But somehow they still manage to smile and do their job at a very high level.  Their job is very similar to ours.  It is all about customer service.  So why did they stand out to me?  To them I was one of their customers.  Do we stand out to our customers in a positive way?  If we don’t we need to.  Our competition is always breathing down our backs but I can promise you if we stand out to our customers in a positive way we never need to worry about the competition.  So no matter if you work in the office at Jack’s or in the field your position affects how our customers feel about us.  Let’s make them feel good! EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT Hello. My name is Jonathan Schiesser. I am the new Human Resources Recruiter at Jack’s. I am originally from a small town, Juneau, Wisconsin. Currently, I live in Green Bay. I served in the United States Army Reserve for 6 years as a Human Resources Specialist and as a Combatives instructor. While in the Reserves I also attended the University of Wisconsin- Green Bay, where I majored in German and International business. During my time at UWGB I also traveled abroad to Beijing, China as an intern over a summer teaching English. I am looking forward to meeting everyone and getting to learn more about all of you! Cover with boiling water and let sit for 15 minutes; drain and return to the bowl. Meanwhile, heat 1 tablespoon oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the mushrooms and cook, tossing, for 2 minutes. Add the green beans and cook, tossing, until the beans are just tender, 2 to 3 minutes. Add the ginger and toss to combine. Transfer the vegetables to the bowl with the noodles (reserve the skillet) and toss to combine. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey and 1 tablespoon water. In a medium bowl, combine the cornstarch and 1/4 teaspoon pepper. Add the beef and toss to coat. Add the remaining tablespoon of oil to the skillet and heat over medium-high heat. Add the beef and cook until browned, about 2 minutes. Add the soy sauce mixture and cook just until slightly thickened, about 1 minute. Serve with the noodles and vegetables. Yield: 4 servings March is National Nutrition Month Health Tip: Include the right fats in your diet. Eat healthy fats from nuts and seeds, avocados, fatty fish (salmon, sardines), and olive and canola oils. These are good sources of vitamin E, heart-healthy omega-3, and monounsaturated fat.

Sandy Starr Kudos to Jacob Klapps for coming in on his day off, Friday 2/8/14, to help when we were short staffed. Ben Weyenberg Kudos to Carmen Irenn, who works at East High School. Jim Fassbender brought to my attention that Carmen noticed some people in the school during the evening hours when no one should have been there. She reported this to Jim and he was able to look into it. Kudos to Ray Becher, who works at Foster Elementary, Jim Fassbender was very happy with the way Ray handled an event in his school . He had everything set up for them to start the event, and he also took the event down before he went home. Kudos to Terry Strickland. Thanks for helping me cover open areas in the schools. You were a big help and when I had to call you more than once you did not hesitate to say yes…even though you had already worked your eight hours! Sandy Starr Thank you, Randy Martin, for going the extra step 6871 and staying out to help others during the busy nights. We can always count on you when we need the help late at night as well as early morning.
