  9. Frequency of guidance • Voluntary…the student decides when to be guided • Weekly / monthly…

  10. Good guidance requires specific competences… • Communication skills – verbal and non verbal • Guiding instead of directing or showing • Motivating skills

  11. Development of competences for guidance • Workshops on guidance provided by Celstec (OUNL)…. based on the experience of the participating VET-partners Information from hands-on experts Learning from each other both indirectly and directly

  12. What should be the content of the coaching meetings? • Reflection on last period • What went well/want could have gone better • Reflection on attainment of goals • Analysis of lack of progression

  14. How should the portfolio help the student and the career coach? What functionalities should it have? What information should be present in the portfolio • Assessment: Formative vs summative assessment • Assessors: one or multiple perspectives • Formats of prove of competence: picture, videoclip, documents • Reflections: on competences, on choices, on supervision meetings • Career choices made

How should the information be displayed? • View development per competence / group of competences • View only the points of improvement • Compare assessments from different perspectives • Show plan of action vs actual steps taken • Access: anywhere vs only at school • Ownership: personal presentation site for student If one size does not fit all.. Generic portfolio, which can be customized

  16. A lot of work to do… Together we will develop a guidance model and a portfolio to support our students in making the right choices and developing their competences. Yes, we can!
