  1. Lattice Models for Deconfined CriticalityRibhu Kaul, University of Kentucky Research Foundation, DMR 1056536 A new kind of quantum criticality in which two symmetry breaking order parameters (Neel and valence-bond solid) are simultaneously quantum critical has been convincingly demonstrated in newlattice models of SU(N) spins on the square lattice. The new models do not suffer from the sign problem of quantum Monte-Carlo. They allow the study of Neel – VBS transition systematically for all values of N. Reference: R. K. Kaul and A. W. Sandvik, Phys. Rev. Lett. 108, 137201 (2012). R.K. Kaul, R.G. Melko and A. W. Sandvik. : arXiv/1204.5405, to appear in Ann. Rev. Cond. Mat. (2013) VBS Neel Phase diagram of new model

  2. Lattice Models for Deconfined CriticalityRibhu Kaul, University of Kentucky Research Foundation, DMR 1056536 This work has been communicated to a larger audience through the authorship of a non-technical review article for the journal, Annual Reviews of Condensed Matter Physics(to appear in 2013; pre-print: arXiv/1204.5405). An international conference was organized in July 2011 at the UN-funded International Center for Theoretical Physics, Trieste, with over 100 participants, including a significant fraction from developing countries.“Workshop on Synergies between Field Theory and Exact Computational Methods in Strongly Correlated Quantum Matter”.
