Mussolini sent his troops to attack British-controlled Egypt. • The British struck back at the Italians, Hitler sent the AfrikaKorps led by General Erwin Rommel. • Rommel beat the British forces; a shattering loss for the Allies. Rommel earned the nickname “Desert Fox”
