Partnership Program Primary Goals • Raise quality of the faculty • Reform the curriculum • Improve teaching • Increase access to information technology and library resources • Improve management
Raise Quality of the Faculty • KSU faculty offers graduate courses • 12 KU faculty sent to get advance degree’s at KSU • KSU faculty member’s assist Dean in recruiting visiting professors
Reform Curriculum • KSU faculty member works at KU to facilitate curricular reform • Develop an English proficiency examination for new students
Improve Teaching • Facilitate improvement of teaching • Provide technical assistance to establish sub-departments. • Offer a short-term intensive English program for faculty in the Department of English • Develop student learning outcomes • 15 KU faculty members are assigned a mentor from KSU English Department and College of Education with focus on improving teaching
Increase Access to Information Technology and Library Resources • Facilitate improvement in information technology • Facilitate expansion and improvement of library resources • Provide training to teachers and students on how to conduct research using the internet • Provide students and faculty with access to electronic library resources • Training on how to use electronic library
Improve Management • Higher education administration and English training course • 5 teachers visit Selcuk for one month to learn how an English Dept. in a non-English-speaking country offers English instruction
Methodology and professional development • Administrative infrastructure to track progress of students in the new curriculum • Implement assessments • Sustainability and Empowerment
